In this tutorial, we will explore the forwarders menu in cPanel. This is a handy tool that allows you to redirect incoming emails from one email account to another. This feature is especially useful if you have multiple email accounts and want to manage all your emails from a single location.

Accessing the Forwarders Menu

To access the forwarders menu, please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Log into your cPanel account.
  2. Under the Email section, click on the Forwarders icon.

Adding a Forwarder

Step 1: Click on Add Forwarder

Once you are in the forwarders menu, click on the Add Forwarder button.

Step 2: Fill in the Required Fields

On the next screen, you'll have to fill in the following fields:

  • Address to Forward: The email address that you want to forward.
  • Destination: The email address where the emails will be forwarded.

Step 3: Click on Add Forwarder

After filling in the required fields, click on the Add Forwarder button once again. You will receive a confirmation message indicating that the forwarder has been successfully created.

Remember

Don't forget to test the forwarding rule by sending a test email to the forwarded address.

Removing a Forwarder

If you no longer need a forwarding rule, you can easily remove it by following these steps:

  1. Access the Forwarders menu in cPanel.
  2. Under the Email Account Forwarders section, find the forwarder you want to remove and click on Delete.

Be careful

Deleting a forwarder is a permanent action and cannot be undone. Make sure you won't need the forwarder again in the future before deleting it.

Trace a Forwarder

Checking where a forwarded email goes helps you find mistakes that might send emails to the wrong place.

  1. Go to the Actions menu and find the forwarder you want to check. Click on Trace next to it.
  2. You'll see the Track Delivery page. It shows the path the forwarded email takes.
  3. Look for these icons to understand what happens to the email:
    • A red exclamation point icon means there's an error and the email won't go through.
    • A file page icon means the email is being put into a file.
    • A green globe icon means the email is sent to another server.
    • A folder icon means the email goes to a local address on this server.
  4. To go back to where you started, click the Go Back button.
