Email Accounts
Updated: 10 February 2024The Email Accounts menu in cPanel is a feature-rich section that allows you to create, manage, and delete email accounts associated with your website. This tutorial will guide you through the process step-by-step.
Creating an Email Account
Creating an email account in cPanel is a straightforward process. Follow the steps below:
- Enter your desired email address in the Username field.
Important
You cannot use "cpanel" as a username for your email account. Also, you cannot change the email address or its username once created. To forward emails to this new account, use cPanel's Forwarders feature (cPanel » Home » Email » Forwarders)
- If you have multiple domains, use the Domain menu to pick the domain for your new email account. If you can't see your domain, click Manage Domains to review your domain settings.
- For setting a password:
- Choose Set password now and type a strong password. A strong password includes uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. You'll see a strength indicator, aiming for a score of 100 for high security.
- Use the reveal icon to see the password you've entered, or click Generate for the system to create a strong password for you, which will be shown to you.
- For more specific password requirements, click the more icon and adjust the complexity settings as needed.
Note
Ensure that you choose a strong password for your email account to avoid potential security breaches.
Your hosting provider may set a minimum password strength. Ensure your password meets these requirements.
- Alternatively, select Send login link to alternate email address and provide an email address to receive a password creation link. This option is available only if enabled by your hosting provider.
- Check the Stay on this page after I click Create if you plan to make another email account immediately after.
- Click Create to finish setting up your new email account. Select Go Back if you need to cancel and return to the Email Accounts page.
Managing Your Email Accounts
The management of your email accounts can be done under the same Email Accounts section in cPanel. Here's how:
- Go to the Email Accounts section in your cPanel dashboard.
- You'll see a list of all the email accounts associated with your website.
- Next to each email account, you'll find several options, such as Check Email, Manage, and Password & Security.
- Use these options to access your email, manage storage and other settings, or change the password of the account.
Deleting an Email Account
If you wish to delete an email account, the process is just as simple. Here's how you can do it:
- Go to the Email Accounts section in your cPanel dashboard.
- Find the email account you wish to delete from the list.
- Click on the Manage button next to the account.
- Scroll down to find the Delete Email Account section.
- Click on the Delete button. A confirmation pop-up will appear.
- Confirm the deletion by clicking on the Delete button on the pop-up.
Deleting an email account
Once you delete an email account, it is irreversible. All the emails and data associated with the account will be permanently deleted. Make sure to backup any important data before proceeding with the deletion.
